Please note regarding the below that the Job Support Scheme, which was scheduled to come in on Sunday 1st November, has now been postponed until the furlough scheme ends. Additional guidance will be set out shortly.

As part of the Winter Economy Plan, on 24 September the Chancellor announced the Coronavirus Job Support Scheme (JSS). The JSS is designed to protect viable jobs in businesses who are facing lower demand over the winter months due to Covid-19, to help keep their employees attached to the workforce.

The JSS was scheduled to be brought in on 1 November – the day after the Job Retention (or ‘furlough’) Scheme ends – and run for 6 months. It has now been postponed, and the Job Retention Scheme extended until at least 2 December.

Details of the JSS scheme are likely to still remain valid if employers want to review the scheme in advance. For this we and have produced a factsheet to guide you through the JSS, that you might be good stewards of what the Lord has given you (1 Peter 4:10) and love and honour your employees, as Christ calls us to love one another (John 13:34).
